Chuck Liddell has recently found himself out of work following the UFC’s restructure after it’s sale to new owners. He previously had a lifetime honorary role within the company, but now finds himself a free agent once more and, two days ago, published a posed photo of himself and Tito Ortiz in a face-off, captioned simply “Why not?”
The pair have had two previous fights, with Liddell besting Ortiz in both encounters – and Ortiz is only recently retired, having fought latterly under the Bellator banner. Chuck, meanwhile, has been noncommital about his retirement, saying he’d be happy to return to the sport if the right opponent were to be found.
It would appear that Tito is not as game for a rematch as the photo initially suggested, recently posting on Twitter, “@Chuckliddell because I don’t need the money. Suck that you need the money. I can lend you some cash if so. photo https://instagram.com/p/BU504bbFSQM/”
Liddell’s response was succinct and too the point, “We took the pic as requested by the media. You knew I was going to post it, u posed for it,” he wrote. “I heard you changed for the better but with your lack of class and character i knew it was impossible. Some encouraged me to give you a shot saying Amber changed u. Judging from your tweet you’re still the same piece of shit I’ve punked on numerous occasions. Now we know who the real trash was, you can’t blame @jennacantlose any more. Man up! Now let me borrow some money bitch where should we meet up I need it soon!”
Both men are now in their forties and have little to prove, being UFC Hall Of Famers but, as the old adage would have it, there’s always one more fight left in the tank…
