A specialized search and rescue dive team called Adventures with Purpose (AWP) began searching for the teenager on Friday. They confirmed to KRA 3 that a vehicle description matching the human remains was found at Prosser Creek Reservoir. Rodney was last seen on Aug. 6 at a large party with hundreds of young people at the Prosser family campground in Truckee, near the lake. The young woman disappeared without a trace. Authorities said the last known ping from Rodney’s cell phone came near the lake around 12:30 a.m. that same night. Around 2:30pm on Sunday, Adventures with Purpose posted on Facebook about its findings. Around 4:50 pm, KCRA 3 reached the spot and witnessed law enforcement activity. Many members of the community are questioning why it was necessary for Adventurers to purposely engage law enforcement to get an update on their search.
“They couldn’t find her, and it bothers me a little bit, honestly,” said Truckee resident Keetana DeCoulotte. “Why don’t they have the equipment for that [Adventures with Purpose] Want to find her? Why? Where we live, there are bodies of water everywhere.”
But others said the task the officials have before them will not be easy.
